Oscar Wilde wrote: "In this world there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it." “The writing of a novel is taking life as it already exists, not to report it but to make an object, toward the end that the finished work might contain this life inside it and offer it to the reader. The essence will not be, of course, the same thing as the raw material; it is not even of the same family of things. The novel is something that never was before and will not be again.”
Five Finger Prayer Devotion: Our Daily Bread
Yesterday was a great day. I opened the devotional book and it was
about the five-finger prayer. Prayer is a conversation with God; not a formula. Yet sometimes we might need to use a "method" to freshen up our prayer time. We can pray the Psalms or other Scriptures (such as The Lord's Prayer), or use the ACTS method (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplications). I recently came across this "Five Finger Prayer" to use as a guide when praying for others.
When you fold your hands, the thumb is nearest you. So begin by praying for those closest to you - - your loved ones. (Phil 1:3-5). The Index finger is the pointer. Pray for those who teach - -Bible teachers and preachers and those who teach children (1 Thess. 5:25). The next finger is the tallest. It reminds you to pray for those in authority over you - - national and local leaders, and your supervisor at work. (1 Tim 2:2-1). The fourth finger is usually the weakest. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering (James 5:13-16). Then comes your little finger. It reminds you of your smallest in relation to God's greatness. Ask Him to supply your needs (Phil 4:6, 19).
Whatever method you use, just talk with your Father. He wants to hear what's on your heart.
The very Beginning......A message for you!
The Essence of Time - Pago's Mystery is on the desk of my publisher. I have completed the writing process, editing, polishing of my twenty-two chapter manuscript; now it is time for the publishing, marketing and viewing of the finished novel. This novel will cover several old and new loved, fictional characters; Maggie (Benson) Bennett, Rye Bennett, Pago's and Carina's new found family.
Writing this novel has made me concentrate on several chapters, but I also had to know the beginning event or setting the scene, describing the characters, introducing a problem or a resolution and resolving it in the most exciting way possible. So thank God for thorough research!
Lori, my editor, was an instructor at Long Ridge Writers Group (West Redding, Connecticut) when I started my classes in 2004 and she is with me yet. (I have had several other instructors throughout my writing courses/career, also. They always gave me encouragement, too.) Although, through this writing process, Lori, has given me the confidence and encouragement which I need as an author; besides constant praying and God's love. She is an amazing, awesome friend.
As you know, an author's voice consists of their own words only. I have used the Internet for several resources. Reading will give you confidence and knowledge, which in return will encourage you to write your thoughts and ideas on paper. Studying writing courses helped me gain the confidence I needed to write, also. "To never give up" and "confidence" are two key words in which every determined author needs to hear. An attorney once stated, "I would never tell anyone to stop writing."
"The Essence of Time - Pago's Mystery" brings several historical memories. It shows responsibility, leadership and discipline. These are writing characteristics that a person must acquire; writing is a skill. If a person writes fictional we are not writing untrue facts. Fictional writing is fictional writing; we have fictional characters not real characters. Although, fictional ideas can come from everyday observation, happenings. Have you ever thought.....this sounds familiar when you are reading a story? Many of us can relate to a life story. I'll always thank God everyday for my talents. It's His way of showing me that He does not criticize but provides the love, respect and trust in me as a human being and writer.

May 5th, 2017....Today I sat down and read my devotion. It was a reading from Esther 4: 1-17. It taught me many factors which we as people face daily in our life. If I have a question when I'm reading the verses all I have to do is look at the footnotes; the footnotes explain what I don't understand. Quote: It states that when you face challenges in life, seek to know what God wants you to do and then do it. In other words, pray and let others pray for you. Be confident that God will do His part. You don't know ahead of time how He will accomplish His will. Trust God and prepare to be surprised by the ways He demonstrates His trustworthiness. "By saving your own skin" and "watch out for number one" are mottoes that reflect our world's selfish outlook on life. Do you try to save yourself by keeping silent rather than standing up for what is right? Decide what God wants you to do and trust the outcome. Don't let hatred and its resulting bitterness build in your heart. If the mere mention of someone's name provokes you to anger, confess your bitterness as sin. Ignoring bitterness, hiding it from others, or making superficial changes in behavior, is not enough. If bitterness is not completely removed it will grow back, making matters worse. Hatred and bitterness are like weeds with long roots that grow in the heart and corrupt all of life. Unquote.
I think each of us have experienced this kind of action in our life. We would not be human if we didn't. That is why God wants us to forgive!
Mother's Day is soon upon us. My mom gave birth to me....she is one in a million because she was my mom and I was her youngest daughter. The special day in December when I was born, will always remain part of my life forever. Thank you, Mom Myra, for being my mother!
A poem that my mom gave me several years ago.
"A careless word may kindle strife;
A cruel word may wreck a life.
A bitter word may hate instill;
A brutal word may smite and kill.
A gracious word may smooth the way;
A joyous word may light the way.
A timely word may lessen stress;
A loving word may heal and bless."
At the present time, there are updates for March - December 2017......
Update: Books are on shelves...located on Weebly.com and Lulu.com. I did not change any of the story within my published novels/books. If I would have changed the story or the plot, revising would have been necessary from the very beginning. These novels are a sequence of novels which stem altogether. At the present time, I'm writing poetry with the hopes of writing another novel in the future......
I can remember a person telling me "take your time" a few years ago. How grateful I was to hear those words as I was writing a novel titled, "Pago's Mystery - The Essence of Time". This novel represented who I was by publishing my author name, my words or my thoughts. At the time I was working in a facility that housed elderly people; people who needed care workers. This type of work is not always easy but I will always love working with the elderly people. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to.....therapy and my back told me otherwise. I was so thankful that I had started writing.....I thought I could write the rest of my life without someone telling me, "no you can't write, because people want to move forward". I thought, what has that got to do with what I decide? I found out people are not the ones in control; God is. And so that is what I plan on doing, write when I can find time. Today I read an inspirational message that a writer had put on the web-site....One Page Per Day. This web-site is an inspiration to read as it talks and tells about other reader's dreams and their future. When you write there is no limit to what you can read; it can be either good or bad. Most of the time it's what a person wants to hear...good inspirational comments. Voice is a purpose to write...... and several writers have gave me reasons to keep writing. It is about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. It is about freedom and being able to walk fearless. It is about the passion of words that a person loves to write such as poetry. So keep in touch as I begin another journey within this huge world of ours called America and its universe. Rosemary Everson DBA Rosemary Hovey Everson
